Dryve · Privacy policy · effective 15 September 2026
What Dryve collects, and why.
Dryve is a recovery journal. Everything you write stays on your phone, encrypted. No network calls in this version. There is no account, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party code that talks to anyone.
What the app holds, and why
The same table the app shows under More → Privacy.
| What | Collected? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email, name, phone | No | Nothing in the app needs it |
| Contacts | No | No contacts access. Silent SOS keeps the one number you type in, on this phone only. |
| Username + password hash | Not in this version | Accounts come later and will only sync the journal to a new phone |
| Substance, goal, country | Yes | Drives prompts, tracker and helpline routing |
| Journal entries and letters | On-device, encrypted | On this phone only, encrypted. No cloud backup in this version |
| Check-in and slip data | Yes | Times the risk-window notification |
| Anonymous device ID | Not in this version | Nothing identifies this install |
| Day count, today's step, how many marks, and the most recent one by name and date, for the home screen widgets | On this phone, in a small area the widget can read. Not encrypted, because a widget can't open your journal. Nothing you wrote is in it. One name and one date are, for the third widget — the most recent, and nothing else. Hide the numbers empties it. | So the widgets show the right thing without waking the app |
| A file you export for a therapist | Only when you tap Export, and only what you tick. It goes wherever you send it. Dryve keeps no copy and no record. | So you can hand your own writing to someone helping you |
Still no network calls. The only way anything leaves this phone is a file you make and send yourself.
Permissions the app asks for
- Microphone and speech recognition — only when you tap Dictate in the journal. Your phone turns your voice into text on the device; nothing is recorded or sent.
- Notifications — local reminders you set. Nothing is pushed from a server, because there is no server.
- Face ID or fingerprint — used only by a feature that is switched off in this version. If it is ever turned on, it asks your phone to confirm it is you before showing a recovery code; no face or fingerprint data ever reaches Dryve.
No location, no camera, no photos, no contacts, no calendar, no health data, no advertising identifier, no tracking.
Deleting your data
Everything Dryve holds is on your phone. Deleting the app deletes it. The app is excluded from phone backups, so no copy exists anywhere else. A file you exported for a therapist is yours; Dryve keeps no copy and no record of it.
Children
Dryve is not directed at children and asks for no age or personal details. Because nothing leaves the phone, there is nothing for us to hold about anyone.
Changes
If a future version ever sends anything anywhere — for example an optional, encrypted backup — this page will say exactly what, before that version ships, and the app's own Privacy screen will say the same.
